Bone Builders

Bone Builders

A Therapist Guided Strength & Balance Class for Adults

Staying strong, steady, and independent does not happen by accident, and it only becomes more important as the years go on. Bone Builders is a small-group strength and balance class in Camarillo, designed and overseen by the Physical Therapist team at Camarillo Physical Therapy. Every session is built around safe, functional movement that helps you do the things daily life asks of you, from getting out of a chair to carrying groceries to hiking the Santa Monica Mountains trails to staying steady on the Camarillo Grove paths.

This is not a generic gym class led by a personal trainer. It is movement guided by clinical expertise, scaled to your ability, in a setting where safety comes first.

Bone Builders is designed for adults who want to:

Build and maintain functional strength for everyday activities.

Improve balance and reduce the risk of falls.

Keep up the progress they made in physical therapy.

Stay active in a safe, supportive, social setting.

You do not need to be “fit” to start. The class welcomes a wide range of mobility levels, from those who find everyday movements demanding to those who are more active & want to keep advancing. Chairs are used throughout for support, seated exercises, and safe rest, so you can participate at your own pace.

Why "Therapist-guided" matters

There is a meaningful difference between a class run by a general fitness instructor & one designed and supervised by physical therapy professionals.

At Camarillo Physical Therapy, every Bone Builders session is structured around principles used in clinical rehabilitation: appropriate progression, attention to form, and scaling each exercise to the individual. Our team understands how to work safely with common health & mobility considerations, and how to adjust movements when something does not feel right. That clinical lens is what makes a strength class genuinely safe for adults with varying abilities.

What a class looks like

Each Bone Builders session runs about 50 minutes and focuses on practical, functional movement. A typical class includes

Exercises are always scaled to your ability. If a movement is too easy, we progress it. If it is too challenging, we modify it. The goal is steady, meaningful improvement, not pushing past what is safe.

Why a Multi-Week Program?

Real, lasting changes in strength and balance take time. Meaningful neuromuscular improvements, the kind that translate into steadier walking and easier daily movement, generally take at least six weeks of consistent practice to develop. That is why Bone Builders is structured as a multi-week program rather than a one-off class. Showing up consistently is what produces results you can feel.

Bone Builders runs as a structured multi week program. Meaningful improvements in strength and balance generally take at least six weeks of consistent practice, which is why we built it this way rather than as a single drop-in class.

A seated, all-levels group class is built to improve functional strength, balance, and fall prevention rather than to directly increase bone mass, which typically requires higher-load training. If your main goal is bone density and you have osteoporosis or osteopenia, ask us about one-on-one physical therapy.
